NAPLES (Fla.) — It is difficult to choose a winner in the 2023 Chubb Classic despite the presence of many great PGA Tour Champion players.
Taking into account each player’s game, strengths and weaknesses as well as their comfort playing in Southwest Florida, these six should be the frontrunners in the leaderboard at Tiburon Golf Club’s Black Course. This is their chance of winning.
Steve Stricker
Stricker, 2021 Chubb winner is familiar with the course down here because he was a Quail West member.
He also has the best short and pitching games in the field. Why? He has very little wrist cock in his backswing. He is able to control his distances much better than other players. He has the ability to play 120 yards in a winning game. Stricker is a good control player, as his swing is very straight and has little wrist cock. His drives would be expected to be located in the middle of fairway.
Bernhard Langer
Langer Langer Langer is the only person capable of replicating last year’s victory. Langer Langer’s main strength lies in his mind, not his technique. Since Jack Nicklaus, he is the only person who can focus on the task at hand. While his swing will not get him into the Hall of Fame, his brain will.
Padraig Harrington
He has it all: a great swing, great clubhead speed and a great short game. He could win the PGA Tour, in my opinion. His game can be off and he is more likely to hit the impact than the top. Harrington’s experience will teach you to slow down your progression from the top.
Jim Furyk
Furyk’s upright, loopy swing doesn’t hinder his ability to hit the ball into the hole. This is the lesson that the average golfer can take away from Arnold Palmer’s statement about the golf swing: “Swing your swing.” ‘”
Ernie Els
Els’ swing is fast enough to compensate for any mechanical problems. It would be easy to imitate his tempo.
Fred Couples
Couples has a smooth, controlled fade from left to right. Couples hits the ball far because of his long swing and aggressive opening of his hips. For more distance, you can bump your hips laterally while on the downswing. Then rotate your hips to the left. Couples have a swing that is designed to provide distance.
Keep in mind that tournaments are decided by 2 things.
- What are your scoring clubs?
- How good you putt
However, any of the 78 participants in this tournament can win. The man who puts the most will win.
