ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The property that houses the Oak Hill East Course which will challenge the world’s best golfers has seen many changes over the years.
In 1934, the original Donald Ross design was given a national boost when Rochester celebrated its 100th birthday as well as the 20th anniversary of Walter Hagen winning the U.S. Open at Midlothian Country Club.
Club leaders called George Fazio, Tom’s nephew, to help them add new features in the 1970s. The course became more difficult and hosted major events.
Andrew Green renovated the East Course again in 2019. He tried to restore it to the original design Ross designed nearly a hundred years ago.
This week, the course’s front nine will be the focus of international attention.
