It appears that the PGA Tour’s recent changes are already having an effect.
Cameron Young, the rising star of golf, was asked by Brendan Quinn, The Athletic, about his difficult decision between joining LIV Golf and sticking with the PGA Tour after Sunday’s final round at the PGA Tour 2022 Tour Championship.
Young stated, “I mean, honestly, I have decided that I will stay.” “So, I don’t know. It’s a really hard situation. Because it’s not really something anyone wanted to happen. It wasn’t intended to be hostile between them.
The Times UK reported Young was heading for LIV Golf three week ago. However, a source close the Wake Forest star said that Young wasn’t likely joining the Greg Norman-led series.
“Obviously, it’s the elephant that is the room for everybody. Sincerely, I was interested in everything that happened with (LIV golf). Young stated that Young believes they have some great ideas and are doing some really cool stuff. Given some of the changes to the PGA Tour, that’s what helped me decide that I would like to stay and pursue the goals that I had for myself. For example, making a Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams and winning a major. All of this is uncertain if one goes. It’s difficult for me to be in that position because I’m young and there are many factors.
Young finished fifth at the Genesis Invitational, Sanderson Farms Championship and Wells Fargo Championship. He also won five runner up places at the British Open, British Open, British Open, British Open, British Open, British Open, and Rocket Mortgage Classic. There were five other top-10 finishes.
