Speed is King When it comes to putting, and too many golfers waste time and energy trying to get the perfect read. Watch the entire 52 seconds of this video to get my full explanation.
In a typical tournament, the average PGA Tour player makes 1.5 putts beyond 20 feet! Please read it again. Unfortunately, we also don’t make many longer puts. Let’s be honest. We all make mistakes. Celebrate and take in the moment when you hit the ball from the bottom. Most of us are able to achieve this by delivering the appropriate pace to the ball, with an “acceptable” idea of the putt line.
Put Pact:
I will choose one of five options for all putts beyond 15 feet: straight, slight left to the left or right to the right; or big left to the left or right to the right.
When faced with longer putts, we don’t require perfection in green reading because very few golfers start the ball on the intended path. However, we do need speed and control of distance. I think that if you can focus more on speed, then you will have less three-putts as well as be a happier golfer …. And people!
Please try this one. I’m sure you will do better at the greens.
