Don January, who won the 1967 PGA Championship, and was a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup teams twice, died on Sunday, aged 93, reports the PGA Tour.
The PGA Tour has awarded January 10 victories. He won the Vardon trophy for the lowest scoring average in 1976 at age 46.
He was born in Plainview, Texas on November 20, 1929. He led the North Texas State Golf team to four consecutive NCAA titles. January, nicknamed “Bones”, won the 1963 PGA at Columbine Country Club near Denver in an 18 hole playoff.
He won 22 times in the senior circuit. After turning 50, he played 333 more starts on PGA Tour Champions.

On the Champions Tour, he earned $3,220 478, which is three times more than he earned on the PGA Tour. The 1980 Atlantic City Senior International was the first Champions event. January won it.
