Former world No. Scottie Scheffler, former world No. 1, is occupying a significant portion of the BetMGM Online Sportsbook handle as he attempts to end a nearly eight-month drought in Texas. Scheffler is preparing for the Cadence Bank Houston Open after he has failed to win in 14 of his previous starts. Scheffler, despite losing the top spot in world to Rory McIlroy just a few weeks back, has played solid golf throughout his “drought”. Scheffler has five top five finishes in that span, including last week’s T3 in Mexico. He has been a favourite in every week of golf betting. This is again evident as BetMGM early action suggests that he will be in Houston. Scheffler currently has 22.3 percent of the handle on the third-most tickets (6.7%) as of Tuesday. Scheffler has the best odds of winning at +600. This makes him an overwhelming betting favorite. Sam Burns has the second-best odds of winning at +1400. He gained significant momentum last week with his T-3 finish at Mayakoba’s Worldwide Technology Championship. His final round of 62 earned him the title of T-3. He enjoys playing at Memorial Park because it’s close to where he grew up (University of Texas), and because of the past results. Scheffler made it to the top of the field both times the event was played at the course. He also made the cut in the T-2 last year when he shot round 62. He shot 65 in the final round of his T32 last year. He should be positive at a course that doesn’t produce as many birdies this fall, so it’s not surprising he’s going to have positive vibes. He will be ranked world No.1 if he wins. Tony Finau, who draws the third-most tickets (10%) as well as the most handle (10.3%), is another favorite player. Memorial Park, which measures over 7,400 yards for par 70, is popular with players. It’s a longer course than most other competitors and Finau should be able to use his distance off of the tee to his advantage. Current Handle & Tickets Handle Scottie Scheffler – 22.3% Sam Burns – 10.3% Hideki Mäatsuyama 6.8% Keith Mitchell 6.4% Tickets Tony Finau 10% Sepp Straka 7.8% Scottie Scheffler – 6.7% Taylor Pendrith – 4.7% Keith Mitchell — 4.7% Burns has the second-best odds of winning, with 16.2%. His performance at the event last year was strong, with him finishing T-7. Expect low scores due to the longer course, sharp runoffs on the greens and windy conditions. In fact, the winning scores in this event have been between 13 and 10 under over the past two years. * For more information, visit BetMGM.com. To wager, you must be 21 years old or older.
