A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to try to avoid wearing glasses when playing. This is important because your prescription or sunglasses may actually effect your depth perception and cause you to perform sub-par. Of course, if prescription glasses are needed you would most likely need to have contact lenses as a backup option.
It is absolutely vital that each golfer understands the basic water hazard rules before heading out onto the course. Knowing how you play after you hit into a water hazard marked by yellow stakes (regular water hazard) or red stakes (lateral water hazard) can make a huge difference in your final score.
Remember that men, women and children all use different kinds of golf clubs. If you are a small woman, it does not go without saying that a child’s set of clubs will work for you. There are differences in shaft length, angle, and the strength with which you can hit the ball that all make it very important to get exactly the right set of golf clubs for you.
If you want to keep the most accuracy with your golf shots, it’s important that you keep your hands low on the follow-through. While it is important that you do follow through on all your golf shots, following through too much will throw your shot off and cause the ball to drift.
When teaching your child golf, don’t make the mistake of starting right out investing in an expensive set of children’s clubs. Your child may lose interest in golf, and then you would likely be upset. Your child will surely outgrow the clubs, and then you will have to purchase more. When first starting out, just pick up a used set of women’s or children’s clubs that your child can knock around with. You can always upgrade later.
If you are just off the green but the grass is too long to attempt a putt, try using a 7 or 8 iron to do a simple chip to the hole. Using the same technique you would use for a putt, a smooth stroke with a 7 or 8 iron will lift your ball just past the edge of the rough and fringe and then allow it to roll smoothly on the green toward the hole.
Don’t forget to practice bunker shots. When practicing golf swings, most people tend to focus on hitting the perfect game. This is a great goal, however, even the best player will find themselves in a sand trap on occasion. Take the time to spend a good half hour or so per week practicing in a bunker. You will be much more confident, and the next time you find yourself in sand, you will be able to get out in a snap.
As noted above, there are many different ways that making some adjustments can lead to a more powerful game. When used and practiced in a consistent manner, you can get the ball to not only fly off the tee further, but from the fairways, bunkers, and rough in a consistent manner.
