Tom Weiskopf, who passed away Saturday, at the age of 79, after a long battle with pancreatic carcinoma, was a great golfer. He won 16 PGA Tour titles and also won the 1973 British Open.
Weiskopf was an excellent course designer, with many layouts all over the globe. Many of these places have been ranked highly in various Golfweek’s Best courses rankings. Here is a list listing his top 15 courses as rated by more than 850 Golfweek raters.
Course-ratings panel members continuously evaluate courses and rate them on a points system of 1-10. Each course is also given a single overall rating by the members. These rankings are based on the average of these overall ratings. Below is the average rating for each course.
There are different requirements for the number of ballots required to be included on each list. This list of Weiskopf courses does not take into account all the different ballot requirements. It simply lists the best courses of each designer, regardless of how many votes they receive. This could cause slight differences in other Golfweek’s Best Lists.
