TRUCKEE (Calif.) – Harry Higgs is surrounded by supporters wherever he goes. The third-year PGA TOUR professional, known as “Big Beautiful”, was greeted by raucous applause. Harry Higgs! Higgs is beloved by his smile, humor, and ability to tell stories. Higgs was not able to make friends with himself for a lot of the season. Higgs is a good driver of the golf club and ranks T167 in total driving. He reached the Barracuda Championship No. He ranked 146 on FedExCup. His best finish in his 10 previous starts was solo 69th at Charles Schwab Challenge. He also points out that attitude is a major culprit. Higgs stated that his attitude in recent months has been “horrible”. Higgs said that he has been complaining about small things and moaning about them. Then it gets worse. All year, I’ve been playing on the cut line too often. Higgs’ game has been improving in Sierra Nevada this week. Through three rounds of Modified Stableford competition, he has scored 26 points and is currently T7, just 11 points behind ChezReavie. Higgs credits improved driving for his improved performance. He had been struggling with a left miss in the last months and added loft to this week’s session and adjusted the settings for a fade. He kept the ball in play while avoiding the big numbers. He has not recorded a score lower than bogey in this week’s round – crucial considering that a format deducts 1 point for any bogey, but 3 points for any double bogey or worse. In Saturday’s third round, he was also unbogey-free. He had three birdies as well as an eagle. Higgs stated that he was good at the game but has struggled to improve his off-the-tee play. Higgs said, “I want the ball left to start and it to go right. Too often it was staying left and starting left. It seems like I have it all figured out. Just keep aiming left and hit the road. I’m not an expert, but you can make it fade, fade and fade in every setting. Higgs was frustrated that I wasn’t swinging it in the right way, or making it curve from left-to-right, so he stopped trying to do it. He’ll be able to win his first TOUR title Sunday in a format that allows for quick ground covering – 5 points for a eagle and 8 for an albatross. He is well aware of the importance of the four final events of the regular season. He will be eligible for the Playoffs if he finishes among the top-125 FedExCup finishers. He finishes between Nos. He’ll receive conditional TOUR status next season at the minimum. To regain PGA TOUR membership, he must finish in the top-25 of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals Points List if he finishes below the top-150. Higgs stated that he does not feel right being in the position he is in, with only four weeks to go before he fights for his card. “That’s where it is. Obviously, there comes a point when talk can be cheap. Now, you have to prove it to yourself more than to anyone else. “I feel that I am way more than I am in the current situation, but that’s the beauty of the game. Tomorrow is my last chance to cement my spot on the TOUR next year. I’m hoping to win one of these to take some time off, then I will be able to enjoy this amazing TOUR for two years. “I look forward to tomorrow. “Good attitude and goal left, hopefully it cuts and then they’re good to go.” Higgs’ supporters will be with him for the ride. They hope Higgs will soon have a TOUR trophy to cherish.
