The LIV Golf Invitational Series, which hosted four consecutive events in the United States has left the country for a two-week vacation abroad.
Greg Norman, the founder of the upstart circuit, is hosting the first of its consecutive events in Asia at Stonehill Golf Club. It is located one hour north of Bangkok, Thailand. Players gave glowing reviews of this week’s course before the series returns to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) next week.
One player said that the new track was like one of the most coveted properties in the game.
It’s perfect, I think. It’s holy ground, literally. It’s pure and simple out there,” Anirban said. This is his third appearance in the series. “This is probably the closest thing you could get to Augusta conditions, just in terms the pure turf conditions. It’s phenomenal.”
He said, “It’s unbelievable how great it is.”
Lahiri was a participant in the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club twice. He finished T-49 in 2015, and T-42 2016
Stonehill is Sarath Ratanavadi and Saris Ratanavadi’s pet project. Bloomberg reports that Sarath Ratanavadi, the founder and CEO at Gulf Energy Development, has a net worth of $11.1 billion. LIV Golf was approached by the tycoon this summer, and he hinted at other golf tours hosting Stonehill events.
Lahiri, a two-time European Tour winner in 2015, and seven-time Asian Tour winner between 2011-2015, said, “I think that the good thing about it is everyone is playing it for their first time, so nobody has an advantage.” “It’s open so you have to hit it well off the tee. But it’s a second shot golf course.
Kevin Na said that he thinks he needs to eat a lot more curry and pad Thai and find an additional 30 yards before I tee-off. He also noted that the wide fairways will make it a paradise for bombers. It’s a very, very lengthy golf course.
Na stated that the only thing that I feel like can work in my favor is good undulations on green. There are some runoffs. It’s a challenge to drive this far, so I feel you need to putt well.
Na believes that this week’s event is decided by LIV’s setting up of the course
“I hope that the rules committee sets it up in a sensible way because if you play a back-tee on every hole and tuck every single pin, I don’t think that will be very exciting. Na spoke to officials about reachable par-5s and drivable 4s. “The fans come out to see birdies or eagles. It’s not easy to set it up, but you need to have a good mix, especially when playing on a course no one has ever played or we don’t know what is possible.
“I believe the first day is the most important. You have to be safe and wait to see what happens.”
