HONOLULU: Jordan Spieth felt the pressure. Annie, his wife, wanted them to buy an RV. Spieth opened the Sony Open in Hawaii, opening the tournament with a 6-under 64. He shared the lead with Chris Kirk in the first round. “Annie wanted one for quite some time.” “Annie wanted one for a while. Spieth is coming off a win at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Maui. He also has a record of 5-0-0 at the Presidents Cup. He looked like he had it all. He didn’t own an RV even though the bus has been a staple of the PGA TOUR for many years. Converts include Jason Day, John Daly and Jimmy Walker. The Spieths bought their own rig after their son slept through the night. Jordan also stayed in the rig the week of THE CJ CUP, South Carolina. They can’t use the rig at the Sony because it doesn’t float. However, Spieth managed to hit 15 greens in regulation while working his way up the leaderboard. He only regret was not birdieing the par-5 ninth hole, which was his last round of the day. He and his family will live the RV lifestyle in 2023, no matter what the golf results. Spieth stated, “Just glamping. “Slumming it. It should be lots of fun. It was nice to have a home away from home. The same mattress as at home. We’ll have a lot less stuff to pack and will be able to ride it between events due the west coast swing and the Florida swing. He said, “Should make it easier to travel and get settled as well as packing up.” It’s a great idea. Annie is trying to recruit as many of our friends here to do it. We’ll see over the next few years whether that works.
