It’s the year of Cam.
It is almost a weekly fight to be the lowest-Cam or the highest Cameron on the PGA Tour. Cameron Smith is the Players Championship winner and second in the world. Cameron Young has competed in two majors, and is a favourite for PGA Tour rookie of the year. Cameron Tringale continues to bank paychecks while remaining in the top 50. Cameron Percy, Cameron Champ, and Cameron Champ are outliers. However, Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis seems like he has found his groove, finishing T-16 in each of his three previous starts.
“I don’t know. There’s something in the name. It’s a great thing that the Camerons are doing so well. He said it was a pleasure to be one of them in a press conference before the Rocket Mortgage Classic. It’s a name that seems to be very popular among a certain age group, although I don’t know the exact meaning. We will see if there are any more. There are likely to be a few more on the way, so we’ll wait and see.

Davis stated that he noticed something new when his name appeared on leaderboards last year.
“My name was changed to Cam out of thin air, so I believe I know why. He said that we needed something to help us all define ourselves as individuals, since we are all collecting here. I wasn’t notified, but my name suddenly started showing up on the leaderboard under Cam instead of Cameron. I feel like someone made an executive decision. There are too many of us, so I don’t know. It’s fine, it’s all right.
He said, “Cam’s fine. Cam’s in my bag. To be truthful, I don’t mind at all. Cam was the name my family used to call me for a long time. Cam is my family, and I feel happy here.
