Vermont’s pristine lakefront property, which includes a stone-built mansion and 9-holes of golf, could be the largest residential real estate windfall in state history.
Grosse Point is located in Ferrisburgh about 25 miles south-east of Burlington, the largest city in Vermont.
Zillow has a property description:
The “Grosse Point”, located in the Lake Champlain Valley, is one of New England’s most impressive and private lakefront estates. The grand historic stone residence, with its 10,000 square feet of living space and 345 acres of woods and fields, is perched on a point that offers sweeping views of Lake Champlain to both the north and the south. The estate has five guesthouses and a nine-hole golf, as well as a variety usable barns. There is also a farm manager’s home, 1.5 miles of waterfront with three large docks. A Nature Conservancy Conservation Easement covers the majority of this property. Grosse Point is being offered only for the second time in more than 100 years. With its provenance, it’s one of the most exceptional estates in northern New England.
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal the sprawling property belonged to Cynthia Hoehl, her husband Robert and their son, Robert Hoehl, who is a cofounder of the software company IDX Systems Corp.
The estate is spread over 400 acres and property taxes are estimated to be around half a million dollars per annum.
