All golfers have the ability to putt and putt. To sink every putt, the best putters can read the break and match their swing weight to the target line. It’s not easy to read the break and match the swing weight directly up their target line. Cameron Smith won’t be able to sink every putt, but he can set up correctly and swing with the right swing so that his ball rolls OVER and DIRECTLY UPS HIS TARGET LIE. Why do you let Yips creep into your putting stroke?
The EyeLine alignment mirror has many benefits. It can’t show you how to read the break, (2) how long it takes to get to the hole and (3) how to avoid the YIPS. You must swing with your shoulders and avoid YIPS.
A Putting Mirror can be used to assist you in setting up:
1. Square up your feet with your target line.
2/ Your eyes should align directly above the target line, or slightly inside it.
3. Your head should be straight with your follow-through or putter backswing.
What you can’t learn from a Putting mirror:
A/ Swing by moving your shoulders to avoid the yips (use the large muscles in your shoulders and not your wrists).
B/ Your putter should swing straight back (like a pendulum), and move up your target line by only rocking your shoulders.
C/ Practice putting with your shoulders to get the feel for the power needed to reach the hole and pass it by 12 to 18 inches. (To avoid any deflections from green imperfections when you slow down close to the hole)
Tiger locks his leading wrist and rocks his shoulders to swing like a pendulum and avoid the YIPS.
Avoid yips and shaking hands by keeping your leading wrist down and aligning your forearm with your putter shaft. To swing your putter, use your shoulders. GOLFSTR+ helps you practice by locking the leading wrist to eliminate YIPS. Get one at www.GOLFSTR.com
Thought of the Day: The golf balls are similar to eggs. They’re white and sold by the dozen. A week later, you’ll have to buy more.
