Golfing is all about finding a set of clubs that fit you right. If you can find something comfortable to you, and within your price range it can be a very enjoyable sport. If you do not have a set tailored to your liking it may not be as enjoyable.
Avoid the tendency to try to drill your long putts into the hole every time. Instead of always aiming for the hole, where a miss can result in a second putt, concentrate on getting your first putt close enough to the hole to tap in your second shot. By playing for distance instead of speed you are much more likely to walk off the green with a two-putt instead of the dreaded three-putt.
The next time you are stuck in the trees, take a moment to survey all options. While it is always exciting to find the most direct route to the green through the trees, this path is not always the safest. Prevent extra shots and increased frustration by seeking out the best way to get back into the fairway. It may cost you one extra stroke, but this is better than hacking away at three extra shots in the trees trying to go the hard way.
Rough it instead of riding it whenever possible in golf by walking the course instead of opting for a cart. Are you really old or disabled? If not, there is no reason that you shouldn’t be walking the course. It’s great exercise, and as you realize you have to walk and find your shots instead of driving there, you’ll have some incentive to shoot straighter.
