The NCAA basketball tournament could have had a negative impact on American work productivity, especially since there are many smartphones, computers and TVs available to employees.
According to a survey of 2,000 golf enthusiasts, the Masters Tournament next week may cause even more people to miss the first major championship of the year.
Pickswise.com found that 56 percent of respondents had watched the Masters, and they plan to continue watching while at work. They’re also taking a risk by admitting that sneaking peeks at their phones or laptops to view streaming coverage of the Masters is against company policy.
What’s a boss to do when Tiger Woods makes a run for the back nine?
The sight of LIV Golf members and PGA Tour players playing in the same groups might also be a motivator to attend next week’s Masters.
Must-see TV? You can bet your azaleas that Patrick Reed will be in the same group as Rory McIlroy.
Additional information about the unauthorised viewing of pine trees, Azaleas, and Championship Golf:
- Only 4 percent of respondents said that they wouldn’t watch the Masters at Work, and this was mainly because they weren’t interested in golf.
- When asked if they’ve ever called in sick to watch the Masters, 79% said no, 9% said yes, and 12 percent said, “But a friend has.”
- Over 60% of respondents stated that they had watched the tournament coverage on their smartphones. 17% viewed it from a computer at work and 13% from a computer at home.
