Will Zalatoris pulled out of the 2023 Masters just before the first round, but his absence from golf will not be limited to one major championship.
On Monday morning, the 26-year old rising star on PGA Tour announced via Instagram that he would be back for the remainder of the season following back surgery.
“After carefully considering my options and consulting multiple doctors, I had a successful microdiscectomy Saturday. Zalatoris stated that, as much as I dislike not being able play the remainder of this season due to my condition, the procedure is already showing the benefits. It is hard to play and live in pain. I look forward making a full recovery, and seeing everyone again in the fall.
Zalatoris has been in eight events this season and has made six cuts. He also finished within the top 25 twice at the Sentry Tournament of Champions T-11 and Genesis Invitational (4). The 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship winner was T-53 at Arnold Palmer Invitational, T-73 at Players Championship, and T-59 at WGC-Dell Technologies match play.
