Former President Donald Trump faced a setback as two of his golf courses in New Jersey had their liquor license renewals denied. This decision came in the wake of his conviction on 34 felonies in New York just two months ago.
Temporary Permits Issued
New Jersey’s Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) announced that temporary 90-day permits would be issued to allow the clubs, Trump National Colts Neck and Trump National Bedminster, to continue serving alcohol. A hearing is scheduled for July 19 in Trenton to determine the final outcome.
Trump Organization’s Response
The Trump Organization expressed discontent with the scheduled hearing, labeling it as “unwarranted and unjustified” in various news reports.
Liquor License Status
While the licenses for Trump National Colts Neck and Trump National Bedminster expired on July 1, 2024, the license for Trump National Philadelphia in Pine Hill, New Jersey, was successfully renewed by the local municipality.
Upcoming Developments
The liquor license hearing coincides with Trump’s impending sentencing in New York on July 11. Following his conviction for falsifying business records in May, New Jersey’s ABC is investigating state laws that prohibit convicted individuals involved in crimes of “moral turpitude” from holding a liquor license.
