LIV Golf’s 2024 Schedule Excludes Donald Trump-Owned Properties
LIV Golf, a professional golf league, is set to release its preliminary schedule for 2024. However, an interesting revelation has emerged – the schedule does not include any events at properties owned by former president Donald Trump. Although the schedule is subject to change, SI.com has obtained a copy of it, highlighting that none of the league’s 14 tournaments are currently planned to take place at Trump-owned courses. This marks a significant shift considering that Trump has hosted five LIV events in the league’s first two years, including those at his properties in Doral, Bedminster, and outside of Washington, D.C.
Season Finale Moves Away from Trump National Doral
Trump National Doral has been the host of LIV Golf’s season-ending team championship for the past two seasons. However, the preliminary schedule for 2024 indicates a change in location. The season finale is listed to take place in “South Florida” instead of specifically at Trump National Doral. This begs the question – could next month’s event in Doral be the last LIV Golf tournament to be held at a Donald Trump-owned course?
Trump’s Support for LIV Golf
Former president Donald Trump has been a vocal supporter of LIV Golf and has hosted several events at his courses. LIV Golf is financially backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and Trump has expressed his admiration for the league. Last year, Trump even predicted a merger between LIV and the PGA Tour, two bitter rivals at the time. In June, an announcement was made regarding a framework agreement between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns LIV Golf. The exact details of the agreement are yet to be released, but Trump’s support for LIV Golf remains unwavering.
Preliminary 2024 Schedule
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the agreement between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf, the league is moving forward with its full 2024 schedule. The preliminary schedule features six events in the United States and eight internationally. The US events include locations such as West Virginia, Las Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, and South Florida. Internationally, LIV Golf plans to hold events in Mexico, Jeddah, Hong Kong, Adelaide, Singapore, Valderrama, England, and South Korea.
With 12 events already completed this season, Jeddah and Doral remain as the final events on the current schedule.
