Three of the four rounds will be hosted by the South Course, which is the longest course on TOUR. Tom Weiskopf’s 2017 redesign North Course will host the scoring opportunity. It will be held on Thursday or Friday. TOUR’s third-favorite course, the North, was played around three shots less than the South. The rough will now be in play and penalize any errant tee ball and approach, unlike the AMEX. For those unfamiliar with this area of the country, chipping and judging recovery shots will be difficult due to over-seeded Kikuyugrass. Poa annua putting surfaces demand concentration from all angles. It is not easy to master the South Course. Weather conditions can also impact your score. Cool morning temperatures can be difficult on the hands and even more so on the golf ball carry. The winds will blow in four directions during the four tournament days, which begin on Wednesday morning. For the second year in a row, the tournament days will be WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. This is NOT a drill. In recent memory, Jay Don Blake (1991), and Jon Rahm (2017) are the only debut winners. Luke List (2022), Rahm, and Jon Blake are the only other two to win their first TOUR victory here. Jason Day (2015-2018) is the only multiple winner this week. 500 FedExCup points and $1.556million of the $8.7million purse for the West Coast swing’s second winner are on the line.
