This week, the PGA TOUR travels to La Jolla (Calif.) for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course. We will have a two-course rotation. The standard 36-hole cut will return, with the top 65 and any ties making the weekend. The North and South Courses will be played by golfers at Torrey Pines for their first two rounds, while the South Course will be used for the second round. The South Course measures 7,765 yards and the North Course 7,258. Both courses are par 72s. However, the North Course features bentgrass greens and the South Course has poa. This week’s field is strong with five of the highest-ranked players in Official World Golf Ranking. DraftKings Fantasy Golf Lineups: PGA Tour $600K Putt + Pitch [$200K to the 1st]. WILL ZALATORIS ($9,700) Zalatoris still works to get back in shape after he was unable to play competitive golf for over five months because of a back injury. The season has started with a T11 and T36 finishes. His specialty is tough, long courses that require pinpoint iron play and length off the tee, such as Torrey Pines. The 26-year old will make his fourth career trip, but this is his third time as a regular PGA TOUR player. The Dallas native has been runner-up in both of his previous two appearances at the event. He was also T7. Zalatoris is also No. This field is SG: Tee to Green per round at the South Course of TPGC. It’s for those with more than one career start. He is also No. He is No. 1 in this field for both SG Approach and SG Ball-Striking in his 48 rounds. Additionally, he has a better poa score than on other surfaces. He came out of his two first starts of the season completely healthy. You can pair him up with a Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele on DraftKings or just create your own rosters with him. He’s a great play on a course that he likes quite a lot. Max Homa ($9100) This was the first thing that caught my eye when I looked at DraftKings this week. Homa is a five-time PGA TOUR champion and is $300 less than Taylor Montgomery ($9 200) and $300 less than Jason Day ($8,800). Montgomery has been a consistent finisher since joining TOUR, but he is yet to win like Homa. Homa is sixth in the field in Total Strokes Gained in his 48 rounds. He’s a consistent finisher in all aspects of the game and ranks 22nd in SG Ball-Striking and fifth in SG Around-the-Green. And he’s 14th in SG Putting. Homa has virtually no weaknesses right now, and he always plays well in California. Homa has outstanding recent form as well as a great course history at Torrey Pines. Following a remarkable fall swing that saw him win The Fortinet Championship, he just received a T3 at Sentry Tournament of Champions. He was not able to make the cut at the Sentry Tournament of Champions last year, but he finished T18 and T9 in each of his previous two years. Homa has a lot of boxes to check for $9,100 with his win equity. He is a solid play in all formats. Kurt Kitayama (7,600) Kitayama might be a little under the radar as his recent form is not his best following a T73 at The Sony Open in Hawaii, and a T42 at the DP World Tour Championship. He had been playing strong golf before that, including a T2 at THE CJ CUP, South Carolina, and a T19 at The BMW Championship. Kitayama’s ability to play well over the long term is also noteworthy in this very strong field. He ranks 22nd in Total Strokes, which he gained in 48 rounds. This includes 19th from the tee-to green. Kitayama’s best-known accomplishment was his 1.87 strokes at tee to green on the South Course in his one start last year. Kitayama missed the cut due to poor putting. Kitayama is able to drive the required distance (20th in Driving Distance in the PGA TOUR 2022), and if his putter cooperates, he could easily score a T20 or better at Torrey Pines. This would be a remarkable value considering his $7,600 cost. DraftKings Fantasy Golf Lineups: PGA Tour $600K Putt + Pitch [$200K to 2nd]. Test your knowledge.
