Goldman Sachs Logo No Longer on Cantlay’s Hat
Patrick Cantlay, the eight-time PGA Tour winner, will no longer have the Goldman Sachs logo on his hat if he chooses to wear one on the golf course in 2024. The bank signed Cantlay, 31, to its first-ever golf deal in 2020. However, they have decided not to renew their endorsement of the talented golfer. The news was first reported by DealBook and the New York Times.
Goldman Sachs Evaluates Partnerships
A spokesman for Goldman Sachs stated that the firm constantly evaluates its partnerships, and as of now, their logo will no longer appear on Cantlay’s hat. Although the exact reason for the termination of the partnership was not disclosed, it is clear that Goldman Sachs has made the decision to move on from their association with Cantlay.
Cantlay’s Recent Headlines
Over the past year, Patrick Cantlay has been in the headlines for various reasons. On the golf course, his slow play has drawn criticism from both fans and fellow players. Off the course, his motivations and decisions have also garnered attention. One recent viral story involved his choice not to wear a hat during the Ryder Cup in Italy. Cantlay explained that it was because the hats provided by the U.S. team did not fit him properly. However, multiple reports suggest that it may have been a silent protest regarding the lack of payment for Ryder Cup players.
Season Highlights
During the current season on the PGA Tour, Cantlay has made 21 starts and achieved impressive results. He has earned 16 top-25 finishes, demonstrating his consistency and skill. Additionally, Cantlay secured two runner-up positions at the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open and the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship. These achievements further solidify his status as a top contender on the Tour.
As Cantlay moves forward without the backing of Goldman Sachs, he will undoubtedly continue to focus on his golf career and strive for success on the course.
