Don January lost a four shot lead in 1961 with only three holes remaining. He ended up in a play-off with Jerry Barber at the PGA Championship. January lost that day, but six years later he found Don Massengale and forced a playoff in Denver at Columbine Country Club.
The next day, he won his lone Major Championship in a 18-hole playoff.
January has won 10 times on the PGA Tour and 22 more times since he turned 50. He is tied for the seventh most wins on the Senior Circuit.
The death of January took place on Sunday, 7 May 2023.
