Scottie Scheffler is ready to defend his titles. At this week’s WM Phoenix Open, he opens his four-pack. Five things to know It’s Scheffler’s season within the season at a stop on the schedule within the schedule. TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course, north of Phoenix, hosts the annual thrill. The field is literally bursting as you would expect. For more information on the field, including a breakdown of course conditions and explanations about the potential contenders, continue reading below. POWER RANKINGS – WM PHOENIX OPENS Jordan Spieth and Viktor Hovland will be among those who Golfbet Insider will review. The field is, as they say, the best-attended tournament of golf on the planet. Yet, there’s more. The field has 132 entries. However, due to the limited daylight hours in February at this latitude for a tournament on one course, only 132 can be entered. All of the top 125 players on the Eligibility Points List last year are guaranteed entry. As of Monday midday, the field was 134 deep. This includes three open qualifiers, which will be decided on Monday. To summon an alternate, more than two players would need to withdraw. Twenty Player Impact Program winners were committed. Only Adam Scott, Tiger Woods, and Will Zalatoris have committed to competing in the designated events. The Stadium Course can be set up in any way that is possible, even in winter conditions. It features an incredible closing stretch, highlighted by the par-3 16th hole, a/k/a The Coliseum. There’s also plenty of entertainment throughout the evening, making it a great experience that could make the Super Bowl seem more manageable. Oh, yeah, that. You may have heard that the 57th NFL championship contest will be held in the Valley of the Sun again this year. Since Tom Weiskopf renovated TPC Scottsdale ahead of the 2015 edition of the NFL’s championship contest, it has been adapted to the modern game with power and precision. The course is capable of handling the ball, which tends to fly further in dry desert air. The Bermuda greens are approximately 7,000 sq. feet in size. Due to the favorable weather, the primary rough might be slightly taller than last year’s 2 1/2 inch. The greens look inviting from any lie on the fairway so it’s tempting to pull the driver more often. However, the Sonoran Desert, which is the original site of the course, awaits those who make the most serious errors off the tee. The course ends at 7,261 yards, with no modifications to the test. The area will see daytime highs in the 70s. This is an impressively-timed warming pattern. It’ll also be dry throughout the week. The winds will blow in from the east until they turn around towards the southwest for the final round. However, there should not be too much bother.
