BROOKLINE, Mass. The lead at the 122nd U.S. Open was shifting throughout the afternoon on a cold, overcast New England morning. Matt Fitzpatrick and Will Zalatoris all scored 6 under during Sunday’s rounds at The Country Club. However, only Scottie Scheffler, the Englishman who won The 2013 U.S. Open, was able to reach that level. This course was open to amateurs.
Fitzpatrick is now the third American golfer to win the U.S. Open. Amateur and U.S. Open were played on the same course by Fitzpatrick, who joins Jack Nicklaus at Pebble Beach or Juli Inkster at Prairie Dunes.
These are five things that we learned at The Country Club on Sunday.
