There are two great things about taking a walk around Pebble Beach to do your job. You could even get a trophy for taking an extra day to do the second walk! Justin Rose won the PGA TOUR at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the first time in just over four years. This is Rose’s 11th career TOUR title, and his first since the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open. Wind delayed Saturday’s action and a cut was promised to not fall until three rounds had been completed. Spyglass Hill was joined by Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course, so a Monday finish was inevitable. All 75 players who made it to the final played the host course. Rose played nine holes on Sunday and returned today for a nine-hole round in spectacular conditions. He finished 6-under 66 with a score of 3-under 33 on his backside and won by three at 18 under 269. The 42-year-old Englishman had not won anywhere in recent memory. However, he was a respectable +2800 on BetMGM to win the tournament the Tuesday before. This was tied for eighth among outrights, with fellow 40-year-old Matt Kuchar who missed the cut. Matt Fitzpatrick, who was +900, was the favorite. But he MCed by three. Viktor Hovland, T13 (T63), and Jordan Spieth, T63 were the next-shortest at +1000. Brendon Todd (+8000), and Brandon Wu (+12500), were in a position to make a lot of money if Rose fell. They settled for second place. Tom Hoge (+2000), in his first appearance as defending champion, finished T48.
