Sunday marked the close of the first LIV Golf Season. Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s clear that player defections and the huge payouts LIV golfers received, as well as Greg Norman’s disputes with the Official World Golf Ranking System, were major stories in 2022. LIV Golf’s ongoing story will undoubtedly be part of the golf narrative for 2023. However, it may be overshadowed by news from Far Hills, New Jersey and St. Andrews in Scotland early in the season.
In February 2020, the USGA and R&A, the governing bodies for golf, declared that distance was a problem. Since then, they have carefully and methodically studied equipment testing methods, equipment design, and other aspects of the game to find a solution.
September 2 was the deadline for industry insiders, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to submit USGA and R&A research, feedback, and information. With the holidays fast approaching, and only two months left in 2022 for input, stakeholders, manufacturers, and industry insiders were asked to send the USGA/R&A feedback, information, and research by September 2.
