PEBBLE BEACH (Calif.) — Justin Rose made the most of a hectic week by scoring three quick birdies to win Monday’s wind-delayed AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This victory ended four years of his absence without a win and makes him eligible for the Masters. Rose was safe in the final holes and finished with four pars to score a 6-under-66, three shots ahead of Brandon Wu (66) and Brendon Todd (65) Rose stated, “A fantastic week from start to end with so many things going in my favor.” Rose finished at 18-under 269, winning for the 11th consecutive time on the PGA TOUR and his 23rd worldwide title in the last 20 years. He had not won since Torrey pines 2019, in which he was No. He was ranked No. 1 in the world. He was well below the top 50. Rose was eligible for all majors dating back to the 2010 Open Championship. That streak was threatened until Rose won. Rose led by two shots when play resumed in bright sunshine on a crisp morning. Todd made two birdies, and was only one shot behind the leader. Rose putted a 25-foot birdie putt at the 11th hole. Rose then made a 20-footer on the 13th for birdie. Rose then hit lob wedge to 8 foot on the par-5 14, extending his lead to three shots. The back nine was so tough in the last hours of Sunday night, it was barely threatening Monday morning. Wind was blowing in the opposite direction to the players, or at their backs. Rose was the one who benefited most from the weather this week. Rose was just six shots behind the leader and in trouble. He faced the strongest wind of week on the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula. When he hit 5-wood into par-3 ninth to three feet, he was only six shots away. The wind moved his ball 4 feet further away before he could mark it. Officials had to stop play on all three courses. Rose returned to the course on Sunday morning, and made a 7-foot birdie. Rose played the last 10 holes in 6 under to win the 65-hole lead. A pivotal eagle/birdie stretch at Pebble on Sunday afternoon gave him a cushion. Denny McCarthy was two strokes behind when play resumed. He had birdie opportunities on the 16th, 17th, and 18th but couldn’t covert. He finished fourth with a 64, four shots behind Keith Mitchell (68), and Peter Malnati (69). Although there was a lot of rain this week, wind was the predominant theme. On Sunday, rain, wind and hail were all present in a short time span. Rose ended the week with stunning blue skies and surf crashing against rocks on the 18th fairway.
