Tiger Woods will be making his return to the official PGA Tour event for the first time since the 2023 Masters.
After playing at the PNC Championship with his son in December, Woods has confirmed his participation in the 2024 Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. This will be the third signature event of the year.
A Star-Studded Field
As a highly regarded tournament, the Genesis Invitational boasts an incredibly strong field. Joining Woods in Los Angeles will be world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, and Max Homa. Unlike other signature events, the Genesis Invitational will feature a 36-hole cut, with the top 50 players and ties, as well as those within 10 shots of the lead, advancing.
A Lucrative Purse
The total purse for the Genesis Invitational is an impressive $20 million, with $4 million allocated for the winner.
About the Course
Riviera Country Club, the venue for the tournament, is a par-71 track measuring 7,322 yards.
Defending Champion Absent
Unfortunately, Jon Rahm, the reigning champion, will not be able to defend his title due to his commitment to LIV Golf.
Finalizing the Field
The list of participants for the Genesis Invitational will be finalized after the conclusion of the WM Phoenix Open.
All eligible players, except for Justin Rose and Matthieu Pavon, have committed to the tournament.
The final field will include the following:
- Aon Swing 5
- Additional PGA Tour members in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking (through this week)
- The winner if not otherwise exempt
